ABOUT PROJECT
As the home owners’ family grew, they decided to add an extension to their home, rather than move out, since they loved their district and the city. By adding the extension in the inner courtyard the architects divided the house into two separate areas.
IDEA
The main idea was to connect the interior of the house with the exterior and the landscape. The house that was built some time ago according to the norms of traditional architecture was now to be opened to nature and space.
ARCHITECTURE
The residents’ privacy was a concern due to a close proximity of the neighboring houses and limited space on the site. Architects offered a solution in a form of a large wall that serves as a barrier to both children’s bedroom on the ground floor and the dining terrace on the second. Since the residents had to leave during the reconstruction period, the project time frame was a primary concern, since it had to be finished in a few months. To address the time constraints, a thin, lightweight, prefabricated frame of the main structure was used. The frame could be mounted quickly and allowed to work in cold weather, which was very important because of the time of year the project was being implemented.
