The layout is guided by the open kitchen and the welcome table. The welcome table is both functional and expressive — pop-ups happen here, and fresh pastries are sold daily. It is also a familiar symbol in Ukrainian culture. To the right and directly ahead is the large open kitchen surface, where some processes are visible to highlight openness and hospitality. The rest of the kitchen is on the lower level, where the bathrooms and kids’ room are also located.
ABOUT PROJECT
Ukrainian cuisine restaurant interpreted by replus bureau. The team searched for the right angle and meaning to present this theme. Our concept answered the question: what could “Ukrainianness” look like today if it had not gone through the Soviet regime? How would our places, cities, and restaurants look if culture and art had grown naturally, without interruption? This interior is about that idea. Elegant, warm, cosy, refined — yet not foreign and not borrowed. The textures are real, slightly steppe-inspired, tactile, in ochre tones. A few glossy moments appear as a nod to classical, almost piano-like elegance. Naive, unexpected shapes and details appear in every table, chair, lamp, and object. The restaurant is located on the ground floor of a business centre that was once a factory. The space has large panoramic windows that open fully, bringing in light and a sense of ease.
