The fridge, boiler, and other utilities are hidden in a built-in wardrobe with doors identical to the apartment’s originals — a bit of design camouflage. Much of the furniture is vintage; some pieces were brought from Ukraine, reflecting the client’s roots. The sofa is upholstered in an exclusive Paolo Moschino fabric.
ABOUT PROJECT
A home for a punky yet posh artist in the heart of Notting Hill, London. Why “punky” and “posh”? The building is a classic Victorian house — elegant, expensive, and full of history — a setting that usually calls for refined interiors. But both we and our client wanted something different: a space that’s classy yet a little rebellious. The two-bedroom flat came with a tricky, less-than-ideal layout. The living room had to share its space with the kitchen, so we made the most of it. The kitchen island isn’t your typical marble block — it’s made from a 200-year-old thrifted cupboard. The central kitchen is entirely stainless steel, giving it an unapologetically industrial feel, as if it landed here by accident.
