ABOUT PROJECT
A modernist single-family house in the historical area of Lviv. Built during the Polish period. During its time, the house has undergone several transformations, according to the needs of the owners: the configuration of the roof has been changed, a veranda has been added, and a garage appeared on the territory. As a result of numerous changes, the house lost its original integrity. Therefore, our goal was not only to preserve the original stylistics of the modernist style, but also to expand modern construction and technological solutions that would ensure comfort and actualize the architecture of the object.
THE CONFIGURATION OF THE HOUSE
Initially, the house happened to consist of two floors, a basement and an attic. The shape of the house in the plan is a square, where the staircase, bathrooms etc. are placed in the center, while the living quarters and the kitchen are oriented to the two main facades. One of the requests we worked on was the construction of an attic that would harmoniously fit into the height of the street and maintained in the overall style of the project. We created an additional space here that is autonomous and provides the entire set of premises for a comfortable and cozy stay.
LOCATION AND PLOT
The building and the site itself are located in a densely built-up area of the city on the Smal-Stotsky street. The shape of the plot is an elongated rectangle and has access both from the main street and from the yard of the neighboring complex. The zoning is composed in a specific way where the main facade forms the line of the street, and the back side is oriented towards the inner private courtyard. Thus, the courtyard is separated from the noisy street. A garage is situated on the opposite side of the area, as well as gazebo and auxiliary premises (bathroom, storeroom, security guard’s room).
The layout plan of the first floor is as spacious as possible and includes: a kitchen-dining room, a living room, a guest bathroom and a wardrobe. Living room provides access to the terrace and the courtyard.
On the second floor, the theme of the first floor continues, at the same time the design solution here is more cozy and intimate, since the owners’ rooms are located here: bedrooms, cabinet and bathrooms.
The attic can be transformed into a separate residential unit, since, as mentioned above, it is fully equipped with all the room types for staying of the family, guests, relatives, etc. Stylistically, it is maintained in the same style as the whole house. Here we’ve got a living room, a kitchenette, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
In the basement we placed a den – so-called hobby room – as well as auxiliary premises: a boiler room, a workshop, a bathroom. Den is designed in dark colors and decorated with natural materials and warm muted lighting.
